HELEN NIU

As a first-generation Asian American woman, my goal is to explore intersectional issues connecting race, cultural identity, and their impact on mental health and wellness. My approach to therapy is highly compassionate and empathetic, as I provide a space dedicated to making each client feel heard and safe regardless of circumstance. I understand that every individual is unique and thus tailor interventions and techniques to echo your own story.

I believe in the power of thoughts and our ability to shift them to foster empowerment, change, and growth. I will aid in the exploration of your personal and lived experiences, in all their forms, to deepen your connection with yourself and the world around you. I hold space for seeking fulfillment, joy, and love in your daily practices. In addition, my practice explores the link between the mind and body, integrating various health and wellness practices to support your healing journey. My areas of interest include depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship issues, racial/cultural identity, and substance use.

Reflecting on my own experiences as a queer, nonbinary person, I recognized the importance of creating a space that is built by and for folks within our community. I believe we are all seeking love, care, connection, and community. In this space, I emphasize the importance of meaningful relationships and the power of relational healing within our collectives.

My goals in the therapeutic relationship are to cultivate a collaborative, empowering space for you to work towards a life that is authentic, allows you to thrive in your relationships and with yourself, to experience healing, and uncover a deeper sense of purpose and connection. My approach is trauma informed, holistic, person-centered, and includes interventions that are rooted in somatic healing. Though engaging in this work may be daunting, I am here to walk this path with you, as we also make room for playfulness, joy, and pleasure. In this work, I'm committed to creating an anti-oppressive, non-judgemental space, so that you may show up as you are.

Being a 2nd generation Latiné person, I know deeply the courage and pure will it takes to embark on a healing journey. Not just for me, but for all of the generations who came before me without the privilege or opportunity to heal for themselves. In my practice, I make space for all of you, your culture, your lived experience, your identities, all beings you call family and the generations you bring with you each time you enter the space. I use a multi-cultural spiritual lens in session to support your goals for yourself on this journey. I honor your space, your timing and your process. Together we use heart-centered approaches to support you. You can count on visualizations, meditations, sensory integration, Theta Healing practices, and Reiki.

As a Reiki Master practitioner, I aim to create a space of sanctuary for each and every human who chooses this type of healing practice. Each session is unique and driven by the client's intention, the nature of the energy work present to be attended to, and the timing of the client on their growth journey. Most reiki sessions are pure “adult nap time” for you to experience deep relaxation while I tap into your energy field and interact with your guides and any aspects of your being that are requesting loving support. My commitment is to leave you feeling held and heard after each session, equipped with the resources needed to navigate any energetic movement following each session.

I will be your furry best friend, providing a soft landing space to cuddle in times of distress. I practice active listening and will make unwavering eye contact to let you know I care.
